As depicted in the drama, John Cooper (played by Keith Allen) tried to implicate his son in his crimes which included two double murders during the 80s, a string of burglaries, and sexual assault in the Welsh county. “He saw this as an opportunity to set the record straight, to tell his side of the story,” said Evans, detailing to The Metro, how he worked to ensure Andrew Cooper was comfortable with his story being made public.
