March 10 (UPI) — The UEFA Champions league will continue without one of the world’s best soccer players, as FC Porto eliminated Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus in the round of 16. Ronaldo’s Italian Serie A squad won the second leg of the round of 16 matchup 3-2 Tuesday in Turin, Italy, but lost the series because they didn’t score as many away-game goals as their Portuguese counterparts. Porto beat Juventus 2-1 in the first leg Feb.17 in Porto, Portugal. Because the teams split the series and the aggregate score from the two games combined was 4-4, the away goals scored was the next tie breaker used to determine the team that advanced to the quarterfinals. Porto won that tiebreaker because of its 2-1 edge in road scores. Porto midfielder Sergio Oliveira scored twice in Tuesday’s loss to help his squad advance. “It’s a unique feeling to score two goals here,” Oliveira told reporters. “I’m very happy for the qualification. It’s a reason of pride for the club and the country. “To come here, score two goals and reach the quarterfinals is a reason of pride for everyone.
