State health officials on Saturday reported 405 new coronavirus cases and five new deaths as Massachusetts approaches a landmark of 50% of the population fully vaccinated. As of Saturday, more than 8.8 million vaccine doses have been shipped to the state, and more than 7.4 million have been given out, according to the daily vaccine report from the state Department of Public Health. Just under 49% of all Massachusetts’ 7 million residents are now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
