MUNCIE, Ind. — Halloween is right around the corner, and while spooky season is ending soon, there’s still plenty to do before the weekend comes to a close. The holiday isn’t just for kids either, and other events for adults and pets are on the schedule, too. With many events outdoors and some venues requiring masks, a report by USAToday states celebrating Halloween can be done safely with masks and social distancing. From trick-or-treating times to costume contests, classic horror movies to parties, here’s what’s happening locally leading up to Oct.31, if you dare. Get your costumes and candy buckets ready; trick-or-treating is quickly approaching at the end of this week. These are the local communities that have announced trick-or-treating hours: Delaware County Muncie: 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct.31 Albany: 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct.29 Daleville: 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct.30 Eaton: 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct.31 Selma: 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct.31 Yorktown: 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct.31. Blackford County Hartford City: 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct.30 Henry County New Castle: 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct.30 Jay County Portland (residential): 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct.31 Portland (downtown merchants): 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct.29 Randolph County Farmland: 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct.31 Parker City: 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct.30 Winchester: 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct.31 Along with the excitement of trick-or-treating, the area will also be home to many trunk-or-treats and Halloween festivities. Jeeps of Muncie will once again be hosting its “jeep-or-treat” 6-8 p.m. Oct.30 in Meridian Health Services’ parking lot,240 N. Tillotson Ave. Muncie’s Police and Fire Departments will also have a trunk-or-treat event during the city’s trick-or-treat time,5-8 p.m. Oct.31 in City Hall’s parking lot.
