So far marketing for Netflix’s live action remake of “Cowboy Bebop” has basically been giant flashing WE GET THIS STUFF WE PROMISE signs for fans. But on Tuesday Netflix got to have it both ways with the first official trailer that lays out things for people who might not have watched the original anime series — and also, yes, is also a huge WE GET THIS STUFF WE PROMISE message to fans. The basic premise is pretty clear. Spike Spiegel (John Ch), as we see when he explains current events to his old pal Ana (Tamara Tunie), used have another name and he used to work with some bad people, who have since turned on him. Now he’s teamed up with Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir) and works as a bounty hunter on the space ship Bebop. Together the pair travel around the solar system capturing bad guys on the lam and cashing in their bounties.
