A Wisconsin judge has ruled the men allegedly shot by Kyle Rittenhouse can be referred to as “rioters,” but not as “victims” in the upcoming high-profile case. The case involves then 17-year-old Rittenhouse in the shooting deaths of two white men and wounding another after a Black Lives Matter protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The demonstration followed the death of Jacob Blake, a black man, by a white police officer. Rittenhouse claims the shooting was in self-defense. Rittenhouse had volunteered to provide security for an area business following violent protests the previous night in the neighborhood. He served as one of many local individuals who stepped up to provide armed security in the wake of violence in the community. Kenosha County Circuit Judge Bruce Schroeder presided over the hearing before the case goes to trial on Nov.
