The Oculus VR headset family is the most popular out there – here’s how to get one at a great price this Black Friday
If you’re on the lookout for Oculus Quest 2 Black Friday deals this year, you won’t be alone. This has been a great year for the standalone VR headset from Meta, with games like Resident Evil 4 VR and Lone Echo 2 increasing its value proposition. And snapping up the headset is a nice alternative for anyone struggling to find stock of the two next-gen consoles, especially if it’s possible to save some money during the 2021 sales period. November 26 is when the Black Friday deals will kick off in 2021. You’ll see some deals in the run-up to the event itself, but the very best deals are likely to be reserved for the day itself. As for this popular VR headset though, deals are a little harder to predict – savings to date have been sporadic at best. The Oculus Quest 2 has earned rave reviews for offering a full-featured standalone VR experience. Last year, stock started to run out over the Black Friday sales period. Discounts weren’t forthcoming during the event itself, and just finding the entry-level version of the headset became a challenge. Over the past year, however, we’ve started to see more appealing Oculus Quest 2 deals – like an unusual promotion in September where you could buy two headsets direct from Oculus and save $100 in total, or smaller discounts on individual headset purchases from retailers. That suggests we might see similar price drops before the year ends – and Oculus has already teased some deals over Black Friday on its official store. But some stores are already starting up Black Friday deals, with Best Buy offering a $50 e-gift card when you buy a Quest 2 from the online store. If you don’t want to wait and see, though, you’re unlikely to have buyer’s remorse. The entry level Oculus Quest 2 now offers 128GB of storage at £299 / $299 / AU$479, up from 64GB at launch, while a top-of-the-line 256GB version is also available for £399 / $399 / AU$639. Both are worth keeping an eye on in the run-up to Black Friday. And, though it’s discontinued, if you’re only interested in PC VR, you may find the odd deal on the outgoing Oculus Rift S, too.
