A now-retired high school teacher in northern Indiana has been charged with battery after a video appears to show him hitting a student across the face. Michael Hosinksi, the ex-world civilization and sociology teacher, was arrested Thursday following a police investigation. He’s accused of slapping a student for wearing a hooded sweatshirt to class. A video of the incident, which took place late last month, appears to show a man jogging down a hallway, grabbing a student’s backpack, and then hitting the student in the face, causing his head to strike the wall behind him. According to court documents filed Friday, the student told investigators that the impact caused “throbbing” pain and left him with a bloody lip, the South Bend Tribune reported.
