Two U.S. citizens were among at least 153 people killed in a crowd stampede in Seoul, South Korea during Halloween festivities over the weekend. 
One of the Americans was a University of Kentucky nursing student, while the other has not been publicly identified.
In a statement on Sunday, the U.S. Embassy in Seoul confirmed the deaths of two Americans in the incident, saying that its staff is working closely with local law enforcement in an effort to provide assistance to victims.
The embassy noted in its statement that it was not providing details due to privacy considerations. 
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of so many lives last night, to include two young Americans celebrating alongside their Korean friends and others from around the world,” U.
