The University of Virginia has canceled the football program’s Saturday home game against Coastal Carolina, the athletics department announced Wednesday morning, after a shooting left three football players dead and two other students injured.
Former Virginia football player Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., 22, was arrested following a 12-hour manhunt and is accused of killing three members of the football team – Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr. and D’Sean Perry – after a shooting on a bus Sunday that had just returned to campus from a field trip to Washington, DC.
Saturday’s matchup was set to be the Cavaliers’ final home game of the season.
