Target Recalls Weighted Blanket for Children After 2 Deaths Reported

Target is recalling about 204,000 Pillowfort weighted blankets for children after two deaths were reported linked to the products.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Target announced the recall of the blankets after a 4-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl “reportedly became entrapped in the cover of the weighted blanket and died due to asphyxia” at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, in April 2022.
A young child “can become entrapped” in the blanket by unzipping and entering it, leading to a risk of death by asphyxiation, the CPSC announcement reads.
“Target has received four reports of children becoming entrapped in these weighted blankets, including the two fatalities.
