Google Cuts 12,000 Jobs Amid Economic Pressure

Google announced on Friday that it is cutting 12,000 jobs in a bid to ride out difficulties in the economy. The cuts will affect workers across different product areas, functions, levels and regions at Google’s parent company Alphabet.
In an email to staff, which was also published by the company as a blog post, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai announced the job cuts, calling them “a difficult decision to set us up for the future.” Pichai apologized to those who will have to leave the company, saying it meant letting go of many talented employees.
“The fact that these changes will impact the lives of Googlers weighs heavily on me, and I take full responsibility for the decisions that led us here,” he said.
