The famous Ohio groundhog did not emerge from his bunker Thursday morning which therefore means, according to lore, six more weeks of winter.
Buckeye Chuck predicts six more weeks of winter.
There was no live groundhog at the celebration Thursday morning after animal rights organization PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) called on WMRN-AM to stop using live animals for its annual Groundhog Day celebration. At issue for PETA was the involvement of Kokas Exotics, an exotic animal breeder located in Marion County that has supplied a live groundhog for the radio station event for several years.
