After weeks of speculation and gaming giants such as Ubisoft confirming their absence from the event, organiser Entertainment Software Association (ESA) officially announced that Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) will no longer happen this year. Veteran game journalist and the man behind The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley, revealed his take on why the gaming event has faced ‘challenges’ in recent years.

Veteran game journalist and the man behind The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley, revealed his take on why the gaming event has faced ‘challenges’ in recent years.In a tweet, Keighley posted a throwback picture from E3 1995 and wrote, “Here’s 15-year old me at the first-ever E3 in 1995. E3 meant so much to me and to so many of you too. Four years ago, I realized that E3 wasn’t evolving as it needed to compete in a global, digital world.
