UK fined TikTok nearly USD 16 million for misusing children's personal data – ET CIO

TikTok has been fined almost $16m by the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) for breaching data protection laws, including misusing children’s data. The regulator estimated that more than one million users, under age 13, used the platform in contradiction of its own rules last year. The fine covers breaches committed between May 2018 and July 2020.
The United Kingdom regulator has fined the Chinese-owned video-sharing platform TikTok almost USD 16 million for a number of ‘data protection law’ breaching, including misusing children’s personal data, according to CNN.
