After Miriam Margoyles accused Steve Martin of harming her on the set of Little Shop of Horrors, the actor responded by defending his actions.
Steve Martin is responding to claims made by his Little Shop Of Horrors co-star Miriam Margolyes that he was “horrid” to her on the set and caused her physical harm while they filmed together. Oh, and that he’s a “c***,” too.
In Margolyes’ new memoir, Oh Miriam!: Stories From An Extraordinary Life the actress wrote that while filming a musical number with Martin, in which his character punches hers, Martin caused her bodily harm.
“During my only musical number (‘Dentist!’) I was hit all day by doors opening in my face; repeatedly punched, slapped and knocked down by an unlovely and unapologetic Steve Martin – perhaps he was method acting – and came home grumpy with a splitting headache. Margolyes later stated that Martin was “undeniably brilliant, but horrid to me.”
Decider reached out to Martin, who responded to the accusations and denied Margolyes account of the events she described.
