Earlier this month we reported that the sci-fi cooperative shooter easily surpassed the launch of God of War on Steam. Last week, Arrowhead CEO and Helldivers 2 Creative Director Johan Pilestedt revealed that the game had sold around 1 million copies with a roughly equal share between PS5 and PC units.
Fast forward one week and the Arrowhead’s game keeps impressing with Concurrent Players on Steam now having peaked at nearly 334.000 (333.827). Not only an impressive number on its own, but this means that the game also managed to beat peak concurrent players for Microsoft’s Starfield and the now Sony-owned Destiny 2 (via Benji-Sales). Another impressive stat is that Helldivers 2 actually has a higher peak player count than every other PlayStation game on PC combined. It will be interesting to see how player stats for Arrowhead’s game will evolve, but we’re pretty sure that the success of the game will be watched by the higher-ups at Sony.
