Shane Gillis lands scripted Netflix series 'Tires' days after return to 'SNL'

Netflix ordered a new comedy series starring and produced by Shane Gillis.
Shane Gillis is continuing his comeback tour with a new scripted series, which will premiere on Netflix in May.
The six-episode workplace comedy — titled Tires — is based on a pilot concept Gillis previously posted on YouTube, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It will follow a “nervous and unqualified heir to an auto repair chain” who “attempts to turn his father’s business around despite constant torture from his cousin and now employee.”
Aside from starring in the series, Gillis will further serve as an executive producer, writer and co-creator. Tires will also star Steven Gerben, Chris O’Connor, Kilah Fox and Stavros Halkias and will have guest appearances by Andrew Schulz, THR reports.
The news comes mere days after Gillis made his highly anticipated return to Saturday Night Live after getting fired in 2019 for making racist and homophobic jokes on a podcast.
“I’m a comedian who pushes boundaries,” Gillis posted on X following the controversy.
