Samsung Was Previously Rumored To Have Considered MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 For Its Galaxy S Series, But Could Not Due To Scare Supply

A rumor shared by a tipster claims that Samsung eyed MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 for its Galaxy S, but a deal could not materialize
There was a slight chance that Samsung would have partnered with MediaTek to bring its Dimensity 9000 to its flagship Galaxy S series in the past. Given that the Taiwanese company took the premium Android SoC market by surprise with this release, competitors started taking note of MediaTek and where it could be headed. Unfortunately, the deal between the two firms could not materialize, with a tipster sharing that there was a scarce supply of the chipset, amongst other reasons.Majority of MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 supply was already allocated to its Chinese clientele, meaning Samsung struck out again
When the Dimensity 9000 was announced back in 2021, MediaTek did not mass produce a sufficient number of these to be widely available for several customers, with Revegnus posting on X that the estimated figure was just 10 million units. Given that Samsung ships around three times the number of Galaxy S units annually, the deal would eventually fall out. However, there were other opportunities for Samsung to partner with MediaTek for its future silicon.
