Google Pixel 8a has been launched officially as the new A-series offering. We compare the phone with the OnePlus 12R to see which is a better value-for-money mid-range model.
Google Pixel 8a launched in India and globally just ahead of the Google I/O 2024 conference. This arrives as a successor to the Pixel 7a and brings in some notable improvements like up to 120Hz OLED display, a larger battery, and a slightly refined design. Google’s A-series is aimed at the mid-range segment and is usually more affordable than the flagship numbered series (ex: Pixel 7 and Pixel 8). However, the Pixel 8a has seen a significant price bump over the Pixel 7a and the price is now almost close to the Pixel 8.
In this article, we compare the Google Pixel 8a with another mid-range phone from OnePlus i.e. the OnePlus 12R to see which is a better value for your money.

The Google Pixel 8a looks almost identical to the Pixel 8. The main highlight of the design is the horizontal strap on the back and rounded edges for better grip. The camera module has a slight protrusion, which makes the phone wobble on a flat surface. The Pixel 8a can be purchased in Obsidian, Porcelain, Bay, and Aloe colours.
On the other hand, the OnePlus 12R has a unique design of its own. There is a large circular module on the back to house the triple camera sensors. We get flat edges on the front, with slim bezels to fit in more content. The bezels on the OnePlus 12R are way slimmer compared to the Pixel 8a.
