A New York Mets pitcher who was abruptly designated for assignment Thursday went on social media to clarify his widely circulated postgame remarks that seemed to criticize his former team.

Jorge Lopez was ejected in the eighth inning of the Mets’ loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers at Citi Field on Wednesday. After disputing an umpire’s call on a check-swing appeal, Lopez tossed his glove into the stands as he walked off the field.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Lopez was quoted as calling the Mets “the worst team probably in the whole f***ing MLB.” Or did he say “worst teammate,” as he would later claim? Listen for yourself:
