Mugshot Released of Ex-Uvalde Police Chief After Arrest for Student Deaths

Former Uvalde police chief Pete Arrendondo was arrested and charged with child endangerment/abandonment.
Texas officials released the mugshot of a former Uvalde police chief arrested on charges related to the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting.
Pete Arredondo, former Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District, was arrested on 10 charges of child endangerment/abandonment and booked into the county jail before being released on bond, Uvalde Sheriff Ruben Nolasco told the Associated Press.
An indictment obtained by CNN says Arredondo failed to recognize the incident as an active shooting and did not intervene in the situation, placing children in “imminent danger of bodily injury, death, physical impairment and mental impairment.”
Arredondo and former school officer Adrian Gonzales are the first officers to face charges in the fatal shooting. Gonzales is facing similar charges.
An 18-year-old opened fire in a fourth grade classroom at Robb Elementary on May 24, 2022, killing 19 children and two teachers.
