New York Weather Update: Hot Temperatures Trigger Health Warning

The NWS forecasts highs of 85 degrees in the Big Apple, with many of New York’s surrounding areas also expected to see the mercury rise.
New Yorkers can expect very warm weather today, with a high of near 85 degrees Fahrenheit, prompting warnings for people to stay out of the sun and keep hydrated.
Gentle to moderate breezes between 8 and 13 mph are predicted, with weather services expecting a slightly cloudy evening, and a low of around 72 degrees. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued heat advisories for New York and its surrounding areas, warning that the conditions may cause “heat-related illnesses” to occur.
The NWS lists some symptoms of prolonged exposure to high temperatures as muscle cramps, heavy sweating, headaches, nausea, confusion and loss of consciousness. The service advises people to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, avoid the sun and to check up on relative and neighbors.
