Ingrid Andress, who sang the National Anthem ahead of the Home Run Derby on Monday, has released a statement on social media addressing her poor performance.
Country singer Ingrid Andress, whose botched rendition of the National Anthem on Monday stole as many headlines as the Home Run Derby that followed, released a statement on her social media account claiming she was drunk.
Andress wrote on her Twitter/X account:
“I’m not gonna bullshit y’all, I was drunk last night”, Andress wrote. “I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is I hear it’s super fun. xo, Ingrid”
Andress’ rendition of the anthem was not just out of tune — it was out of step with expectations for a four-time Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter.
