U.S. men’s soccer captain Walker Zimmerman said his “fearless” team has their eyes on the gold medal in Paris as they return to the Olympic stage after 16 years.

The United States will play in the men’s soccer Olympic tournament for the first time since their group-stage exit at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. They are in Group A at the 2024 Paris Olympics, paired alongside co-hosts France, New Zealand and Guinea.
Zimmerman will lead the Olympic team which includes a few experienced players and emerging talent. The Nashville SC defender is one of the three overage players allowed in the squad that is restricted to Under-23 players.
The 31-year-old captain, who was also part of USA’s 2022 World Cup squad, said the team is not afraid to play attacking and aggressive football, which makes them unique.
“It’s a lot of guys who are fearless, who are confident on the ball and not afraid to go one-on-one and use their technical ability to advance the attack and create goalscoring opportunities,” Zimmerman told FIFA.com on Monday.
