Hotel revenue management systems, relying on algorithms to predict demand and adjust prices, interpret this limited inventory as highly desirable and inflate rates. This creates a vicious cycle. High prices deter potential attendees, reducing overall demand. Hotels then risk having empty rooms despite inflated prices, unable to attract last-minute guests.” This appears to be the current situation in Paris as the event opens.
