What has changed in the three years since the iPhone 13 Pro launched? We compare the iPhone 16 Pro vs iPhone 13 Pro, explaining all of the differences.
Intro
What are the new features in the iPhone 16 Pro? And is this finally the moment for iPhone 13 Pro owners to upgrade?
The 16 Pro arrives with a slightly larger screen, longer battery life, a faster processor that supports AI, and faster charging speeds. Apple is also revamping the ultrawide and zoom cameras and is adding the 5X zoom camera from the Pro Max.
If you had any doubts, leave them aside – this shapes up as a big year for the compact Pro model.

Design and SizeSlightly bigger size and a cool new Camera Control
While the overall design of the iPhone 16 Pro and 13 Pro are similar, with flat sides and a triple camera system, there are some important changes.
The 16 Pro gets a bigger 6.3-inch screen (vs 6.1″ display on the 13 Pro), and the borders around the screen are also impressively slim, which gives it a modern look.
And despite all the new features and the larger size, the 16 Pro weighs a tiny bit less thanks to the use of the lighter titanium material instead of the stainless steel on the 13 Pro.
Here are the exact sizes of the two:

Other compelling design upgrades are the new Action button and Camera Control.
The Action button replaces the mute switch and can be programmed to pretty much every function in the phone (we already saw it on the iPhone 15 Pro series).
The Camera Control is brand new and located just below the power button on the right side of the phone. It is dedicated to camera functions only, but not just limited to the stock Apple camera app.
For the most part, it’s similar to a shutter button on a real camera, but with added functions.
You have a light press functionality to lock focus or exposure for example, while a full press will capture a photo or start recording video. But what’s really cool is that you can also swipe on it, so it acts like a mini-trackpad. With this you can control a number of functions like zooming in and out, cycling through filters or others. Cool!

Another new feature for iPhone 13 Pro owners is a USB-C port, a welcome change from the proprietary Lightning port.
