Apple had pledged to invest around $109 million in Indonesia, but it’s about $15 million short. It also failed to ensure the iPhone 16 has at least 40% locally manufactured components.
Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry has blocked the sale of all iPhone 16 models in the country after Apple failed to uphold investment promises and meet local component requirements.
As The Economic Times reports, Apple had pledged to invest around $109 million in Indonesia to boost its local content and manufacturing capabilities.
