Square Enix isn’t quite the top dog it used to be in the game industry, with Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth both failing to meet expectations. There’s lots of reasons that might be the case, but one of them is almost definitely the fact that going multiplatform is the way to go for most developers these days, but Square has mostly kept to PlayStation and the Nintendo Switch in recent years.
