UFC superstar Conor McGregor has been dropped by Proper Twelve following his conviction for sexual assault.
UFC superstar Conor McGregor was found guilty of sexual assault from an incident that occurred with Nikita Hand at the Beacon Hotel in Dublin on December 9, 2018. McGregor was tried in a Dublin High Court, and the jury found him liable for sexual assault, and the MMA star was ordered to pay more than €248,000 in damages to Hand.
The aftermath of the sexual assault conviction is now starting to role out, as McGregor has now been dropped by Proper Twelve’s parent company Proximo Spirits.
Proximo Spirits released a statement to the Irish Independent, stating, “Since 2021, Proximo Spirits has been the 100pc owner of Proper No 12 Irish Whiskey”, it said. “Going forward, we do not plan to use Mr McGregor’s name and likeness in the marketing of the brand.”
McGregor started the Proper No. 12 whiskey brand back in 2018 in Ireland and the United States, which quickly grew in popularity. Following the surge of the brand, McGregor and his partners sold their stake to Proximo Spirits in 2021 for a reported $600 million.
