Luigi Mangione was charged in connection with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson after being arrested on Monday.
Luigi Mangione, the 26-year-old Ivy League graduate charged in connection with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has two sisters, the physician MariaSanta Mangione and the artist Luciana Mangione.
On Monday, Luigi Mangione was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after being recognized at a McDonald’s restaurant, police said. He was subsequently arraigned in a Pennsylvania court and denied bail. Hours later, New York investigators added five charges, including murder.
Thompson was shot dead outside the Hilton in midtown Manhattan on Wednesday by a masked attacker using a silencer in what police said was likely a “premeditated, preplanned, targeted attack.” According to reports, the words “deny”, “delay” and “depose” were found written on three bullet cases at the scene.
In a statement posted on social media by Luigi Mangione’s cousin, Maryland House Delegate Nino Mangione, the family said: “Unfortunately, we cannot comment on news reports regarding Luigi Mangione. We only know what we have read in the media.
“Our family is shocked and devastated by Luigi’s arrest. We offer our prayers to the family of Brian Thompson and we ask people to pray for all involved.
