Cory Booker's 'Filibuster' Surpasses 21 Hours, Breaks Ted Cruz's Record

Booker, who has held the floor since about 7 p.m. ET on Monday, has just surpassed the Texas Republican’s record of 21 hours 19 minutes.The Context
Cruz set his record in 2013 during his filibuster against Obamacare, which expanded Medicaid eligibility. During that speech, he famously read Dr. Seuss children’s classic Green Eggs and Ham to pad for time.
While Booker’s speech is not technically a filibuster because it is not blocking legislation or a nomination, it is certainly one of the longest speeches in Senate history.
