Patriots linebacker Christian Elliss said he was just doing his job after a hard hit on Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart sparked tension in Monday’s game at Gillette Stadium.
Dart, who returned to action after missing two games due to a concussion, escaped the pocket and ran to his right when Elliss lowered his shoulder and sent the rookie signal caller flying out of bounds in the first half.
“Make sure to slide,” Elliss simply said when asked what kind of message that type of hit sends to opposing teams’ QBs following New England’s 33-15 win over the Giants.
Added Elliss: “During the play, I saw the scramble, I started chasing him [Dart] down.
