Samsung has finally launched a successor to its impressive Galaxy A9 Pro smartphone. It is named the Galaxy A9 Star, and it even has a sidekick in the form of the Galaxy A9 Star Lite. Both these smartphones were made official in China yesterday. The handsets were leaked on a few occasions, including receiving FCC, TENAA, and Wi-Fi Alliance certifications, ahead of their official announcement yesterday.
Now, the launch date of these smartphones has been announced by Samsung. Both the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star and the Galaxy A9 Star Lite went up for pre-orders yesterday, and the pre-orders will be accepted till June 14. The phones will go on sale from June 15,2018 in the country. The phones are equipped with minimmal-bezel screens, dual-camera setups, and rear-facing fingerprint readers.
The Galaxy A9 Star is being sold in China for CNY 3,699 (approximately, Rs. 38,600), while the Galaxy A9 Star Lite is priced at CNY 2,699 (approximately, Rs. 28,200). The Galaxy A9 Star will be available in Black and White, while the Galaxy A9 Star Lite will be available in Black and Blue.
The Galaxy A9 Star has a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display with Full HD+ resolution (1080×2280 pixels), 18.5:9 aspect ratio, and bezel-less design. The phone has a glass-and-metal sandwich build. It features a 24MP+16MP dual-camera setup, and the two sensors are placed in a vertical fashion. For selfies and video calling, the phone uses a 24MP front-facing camera. The Galaxy A9 Star uses the Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage. It is also has a 3.5mm headphone port, a USB Type-C port, and a bottom firing speaker. The device comes packed with a 3700mAh battery with support for faster charging.
As far as the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star Lite goes, it has specifications that are quite similar to that of the Galaxy A6. It has a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display with Full HD+ resolution, an Exynos 7870 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB internal storage. In terms of imaging, the Galaxy A9 Star Lite has 24MP cameras at the front as well as rear. There’s no dual-camera setup here, and this is where it differs the most from the Galaxy A9 Star. The phone comes packed with a 3500mAh battery, and there’s a 3.5mm headphone port and a USB Type-C port.
