Gorham finished 15-5. Zach Cowperthwaite was the winning pitcher while Carson Prouty got the save with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
First baseman Noah Missbrenner got the final out, catching a foul pop-up in front of the Bangor dugout that set off a celebration of gloves tossed into the air and a lot of hugs.
Jacob Munroe had three hits and three RBI for Bangor while James Neel had a huge two-run single in the first.
This was a wild one from the start.
Bangor scored five runs in the top of the first, sending nine batters to the plate and getting six hits. Noah Missbrenner, Zach Cowperthwaite and Jacob Munroe each had RBI singles and James Neel drove in two with a two-out single.
But Gorham came back with four in the bottom of the first to get right back into the game.
Nolan Brown had a three-run triple and scored on a fielder’s choice grounder by Trevor Loubier.
While Gorham starter Ryan Norrris settled down, it came up with single runs in the second and third to go ahead 6-5.
Bangor tied it in the top of the fourth on a wild play. With runners on first and third and no outs, Tyler Parke lined out to left with Munroe scoring. But the runner at first never tagged up and went to second. He was doubled off first.
Bangor went ahead in the top of the fifth. Zach Murray and Nick Canarr led off with singles and were sacrificed along by Carson Prouty. Murray scored on a wild pitch, with Gorham pitcher Jacob Sladen injured while covering home plate. He had to leave the game.
