The Moto C2 has hit the FCC telecoms authority website, revealing 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage in the process. So what else is there to know about the new phone?
Just over a month ago, we saw the first alleged renders of the Moto C2 and C2 Plus (seen above). Now, an FCC filing, spotted by Nashville Chatter, has delivered a few more apparent details.
The filing for one of the devices (model number XT-1920) shows a phone with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. This lines up with a few Android Go phones, such as the identically equipped Alcatel 1X. Expect this new Moto device to run Google’s lightweight take on Android, then.
We also get a breakdown of differences by region, with EMEA phones receiving dual-SIM connectivity and Western European variants receiving NFC connectivity. Latin American variants receive a mix of dual- and single-SIM phones, but no NFC at all.
The FCC filing gives us a peek at the Moto C2’s rear too, showing a single main camera. Those who want a dual-camera Moto phone will probably need to save up for the Moto G6 family. The phone appears to have a 16:9 screen ratio as well, which would line up with previous leaks.
It’s unclear whether this filing applies to the Moto C2, C2 Plus or both devices, but it’s definitely in line with the Moto C family. However, going by the 2,000mAh/2,120mAh battery mentioned in one of the reports, we’re looking at the standard Moto C2 (last year’s Plus model doubled the capacity to 4,000mAh).
Judging by last month’s images, the Moto C2 duo will offer a 16:9 screen ratio, fingerprint scanner (for the Plus model), headphone jack, microUSB connectivity, and a selfie flash.
The original Moto C duo offered quad-core Mediatek chips, 1GB of RAM (2GB RAM for the Plus variant), a 5MP main camera (8MP for the Moto C Plus), up to 16GB of storage, and a 2MP selfie camera. So expect slightly upgraded specs for the new phones, but not quite on the level of the new Moto E5 family.
There’s no word on a release date, but a launch alongside the leaked Motorola One Power makes sense. Here’s hoping we get respectable pricing for the trio…
