“This year’s Galaxy Watch will reportedly have Bixby support, instead of Google Assistant”
It looks like Samsung forthcoming watch is coming under the ‘Galaxy’ moniker. The wearable was spotted on the US Federal Communications Certification (FCC) site where it was deemed safe for consumers. The listing went on to reveal some specifications as well as a detailed schematics of watch’s back, which has the Samsung Galaxy Watch name engraved.
In the certification site, the SM-R815U variant of Samsung Galaxy Watch has been listed. It seems that this model will be 4G LTE-enabled, and also have support for Wi-Fi b/g/n (only at 2.4GHz) and Bluetooth 4.2 LE connectivity. Other features that were revealed include the dimensions of the watch, which is 51.2 x 43.4mm, along with the screen size screen of 30.2mm. The wearable will come bundled with a charger (ETA0U60JBE) that is said to provide 700mA of juice over a meter-long USB cable to the wireless adapter.
Earlier reports hint at more than one variant of Samsung’s watch. Apart from the SM-R815, the SM-R800, SM-R805, and SM-R810 variants of the smartwatch were also spotted on the certification site. All these models are said to run TizenOS with Bixby support, replacing the S Voice.
However, the information should be taken with a grain a salt as there is no official confirmation on this. As per reports, the Samsung Galaxy Watch will see the light of the day on August 9th alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and its pre-orders will start a week after that.
