TOWN AND COUNTRY, Mo. — Brooks Koepka won the P. G. A. Championship on Sunday, holding off a crowd of contenders that included Tiger Woods to claim his second major championship this year and his third in 14 months.
With a 16-under-par total, Koepka, 28, won by two strokes. Woods, seeking his first major victory since 2008, finished second after recording a six-under 64 in the final round.
Koepka, who won his second straight United States Open title in June, was the first player to win both tournaments in the same year since 2000, when Woods did it.
Koepka surged into the lead here with a combined score of 129 for Friday and Saturday, entering Sunday’s round with a two-stroke lead at 12 under par.
