A new mother has made history at London Fashion Week by becoming the first model to grace the runway while using a breast pump.
Valeria Garcia — who gave birth to her second child in June — debuted the world’s first wearable breast bump underneath a suit at the Marta Jakubowski Spring 2019 show.
The mother of two wore the Elvie Pump, which syncs up to a smartphone app to allow women to express milk discreetly whether they’re at work or on their daily commute.
“Being a new mother can be incredibly stressful,” Elvie founder and chief executive Tania Boler told England’s Evening Standard newspaper.
“We spoke to a lot of women about the struggles they experience post-pregnancy and it became obvious that outdated pumping technology was a real obstacle for women wanting to provide breastmilk for their baby. We designed Elvie Pump to make breast pumping as easy, streamlined, and flexible as possible for moms,” she added.
