Suspect flees after firing shots Thursday morning

KALAMAZOO, MI — A man fired several shots at another person Thursday morning and then fled, police say.
Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to the intersection of Vernon Street and Elgin Street at 9:08 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, on a report of shots fired.
Officers found a male suspect fired six shots from a handgun in the direction of a person walking on Vernon, then both the subject and the intended target ran from the scene.
A KDPS K-9 officer was brought in to track the suspect, but he was not found. Police believe he left in a vehicle parked nearby.
The incident remains under investigation.
