The publisher Activision and developer Treyarch officially reveal the release date of the Nuketown map for the PlayStation 4 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
Last month, Activision and Treyarch teased the forthcoming inclusion of the long-running fan-favorite Nuketown map for the publisher and developer’s first-person shooter, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Today, the companies have decided to give players on PlayStation 4 a heads up regarding its arrival, by confirming that the map will be coming first to the Sony console on November 13,2018, with other platforms to follow.
As seen in the tweet below from the official Twitter account for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, those anticipating Nuketown being added to the game are given a short teaser indicating the map’s Russian-styled design elements, with there being a refreshed look at the area’s iconic sign, propagandistic art reminiscent of the Soviet-era, and more. And for those wondering what the Russian phrase above Nuketown’s PS4 release date translates to, it’s Activision and Treyarch’s way of saying, “Welcome back,” to fans of the map.
For those unaware, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s Russian makeover for Nuketown won’t be the first time that the series has altered the look of the original map from the 2010 iteration of the franchise. While the layout has remained unchanged since its initial appearance several years ago, Black Ops 2 updated the map’s style to reflect a retro-futuristic 1950s America, Black Ops 3 gave it more of a science fiction aesthetic, and now it looks to have an icy, Cold War feel to it.
All things considered, while plenty of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 fans on PlayStation 4 are undoubtedly psyched at being able to experience Treyarch’s latest take on Nuketown next week, it’s safe to presume some PC and Xbox One players will feel a tad left out of the fun. That said, fans of the game on the latter two platforms shouldn’t have to wait too much longer for the PS4 version’s timed-exclusivity to expire, as there’s typically a thirty day gap between then and when Call of Duty post-launch content drops on PC and Xbox One.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
