Michael Cohen, who once said he’d “take a bullet” for Donald Trump but has now agreed to work with Robert Mueller to help build the case against “Client 1,” is asking a judge for no prison time — but Trump’s hoping that the judge throws the book at his former “fixer.”

“‘Michael Cohen asks judge for no Prison Time,'” Trump tweeted Monday. “You mean he can do all of the TERRIBLE, unrelated to Trump, things having to do with fraud, big loans, Taxis, etc., and not serve a long prison term? He makes up stories to get a GREAT & ALREADY reduced deal for himself, and get his wife and father-in-law (who has the money?) off Scott Free. He lied for this outcome and should, in my opinion, serve a full and complete sentence.”
On Friday, Cohen, 52, asked a judge to give him no prison time for the various crimes to which he has pleaded guilty, including campaign finance violations and tax and bank fraud. “Cohen theoretically could get up to 70 years in prison if sentenced to consecutive terms for all his crimes, NBC notes. “But sentencing guidelines would call for any prison term to be much less than that, in the range of several years.
