COVID-19 testing in Washington gets boost from organizations, volunteers

The state Department of Health has increased the availability of COVID-19 testing thanks to the help of organizations, volunteers, and health practitioners.
Increasing the availability and accessibility of COVID-19 testing across Washington state continues to be a challenge. However, the Washington State Department of Health is making progress thanks to the help of several organizations, volunteers, and health practitioners. Report: Overall plateau, possible decline in COVID-19 cases statewide Two mobile teams from Medical Teams International, a Seattle-based nonprofit, are supporting community testing efforts in Benton, Franklin, and Yakima counties. The mobile clinics can be rapidly deployed to areas experiencing an outbreak, whether that’s at a business or in a particular neighborhood. At last count, the two mobile teams were averaging 600 tests per day. “We are so grateful for the work being done by Medical Teams International, especially in parts of the state that need the most help,” said Dr. Charissa Fotinos, deputy director of the Washington State Health Care Authority and the state’s leader on COVID-19 testing.
