The president’s legal counsel outlined a rock-solid defense of President Donald J. Trump on Tuesday against the House Democrat’s partisan impeachment. Attorneys David Schoen and Bruce Castor Jr., two highly respected legal minds, assert that because the 45th president is now a private citizen, impeachment proceedings are rendered null and void. Additionally, the lawyers show a lack of causation between the law-breaking rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6th, and the speech made by President Trump before a peaceful crowd in front of the White House that same day. “The constitutional provision requires that a person actually hold office to be impeached,” Schoen and Castor assert. “Since the 45th President is no longer ‘president,’ the clause, ‘shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for…’ is impossible for the Senate to accomplish’ and thus the current proceeding before the Senate is void.
