Star Golfer DeChambeau Commits To Saudi-Backed LIV Golf

DeChambeau’s agent said in an emailed statement that the 28-year-old was drawn to LIV Golf given he’s an “innovator.”
American golfer Bryson DeChambeau plans to join the controversial LIV Golf series, his agent confirmed to Forbes Wednesday, in one of the biggest blows yet to the PGA Tour by the cash-rich upstart golf league. Falkoff wrote to Forbes: “Bryson has always been an innovator. Having the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of something unique has always been intriguing to him. Professional golf as we know it is changing and it’s happening quickly.”
How much DeChambeau and Reed were offered to join LIV Golf, which is funded by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund. Fellow American golfer Dustin Johnson was paid more than $100 million to join the league, according to the Telegraph. Tiger Woods, the PGA Tour’s all-time leader in career earnings, turned down an offer that was “mind-blowingly enormous; we’re talking about high nine digits,” LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman told the in an interview published Sunday.
