Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin counties may see some impacts from Hurricane Ian. Here’s what we know as of Wednesday, Sept. 28.
The Treasure Coast can expect tropical storm-force winds from Wednesday afternoon through Friday morning, the National Weather Service’s Melbourne office said.
Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties remained under a tropical storm warning. Winds of 30-40 miles per hour were predicted along with gusts of up to 60 miles per hour. The NWS advised locals to “prepare for considerable wind damage.”
A flood watch also was in effect, and a peak storm surge of 2 feet was forecast.
Weather conditions were “favorable for tornadoes,” and the tri-county region was under a tornado watch Wednesday.
