From Broadway performer Denée Benton calling Gov. Ron DeSantis the “Grand Wizard of Florida” to Alex Newell winning best-featured actor in “Shucked,” the Tony Awards was nothing short of eventful Sunday night.
Newell made history as one of two nonbinary actors who won a Tony for the first time in the award show’s history. Newell won for their portrayal of Lulu in “Shucked,” a musical co-produced by Vero Beach native David Busch.
