Barbie has generated $626 million at the domestic box office since its July 21 release, edging past 2012’s The Avengers’ $623 million in earnings and working its way toward the top 10 best-performing American movies of all time, according to Box Office Mojo.
Barbie was the fifth highest-grossing film of the weekend behind The Nun II, A Haunting in Venice, Equalizer 3 and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3—marking the ninth consecutive weekend that Barbie has placed in the top five films.
Beating Avengers is the latest in a list of accolades that are still pouring in for the Grega Gerwig-directed film: Barbie surpassed The Super Mario Bros. Movie in August to become the highest-earning film of the year.
The film also holds the records for Warner Bros.
