After years of anticipation, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is here, and it has expanded Insomniac Games’ corner of the Marvel universe immensely. New characters have been introduced, new stories have been told, and New York City is better than ever. It has once again cemented the studio as one of the best in the superhero business, so naturally players are looking forward to whatever it does next. And that next step after Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 seems pretty clear.
Over the course of three games, Insomniac has built an exciting Spidey-centric universe that many will not soon forget. While the studio could just focus its attention on the inevitable Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, it should consider crafting another spin-off adventure akin to Miles Morales instead. The universe holds a lot of potential for new Spidey characters to headline their own game, and in particular, Venom would be the perfect fit for an adventure like that.
