Former President Donald Trump arrived at a Florida courthouse Friday morning for a hearing in his federal criminal case over retaining White House documents, which could determine when the case will go to trial—and whether it will be before the November election.Key Facts

Trump arrived at the federal courthouse in Fort Pierce, Florida, before the hearing got underway at 10 a.m. Eastern time, CNN reports.

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon—the Trump-appointed judge overseeing the case—scheduled the day-long conference to consider various motions in the case, most notably when the case could go to trial.

The trial is currently set to start in May but is expected to be delayed as deadlines in the case have been pushed back, with prosecutors suggesting Thursday they want the trial to begin July 8.

Trump has sought to push the trial back until after the general election, but proposed an August start date in a court filing Thursday if Cannon’s unwilling to push it back past November.
